Passengers Report Uncertainty and Difficulties Traveling Between Brava and Praia
Passengers on Brava are reporting difficulties and uncertainty regarding ferry service to Praia. The Praia d’Água ferry is reportedly limited to 20 passengers due to a shortage of life jackets, while passengers with scheduled flights fear they will be stranded on the island.
Passengers on Brava Island are expressing concern about the difficulties they face when traveling to the city of Praia, due to limitations in ferry operations and the lack of predictability in inter-island maritime transport.
According to an account shared by a passenger, even with a ticket from CV Interilhas, there is no guarantee that they will be able to travel from Brava to Praia on the scheduled date.
According to the account, the ship Praia d’Água is currently limited to carrying only 20 passengers due to a shortage of life jackets. This situation is reportedly making it even more difficult for passengers to leave the island.
The passenger also states that, in order to purchase a ticket, one must travel to Furna, where a Polar agency is located, to obtain the necessary card. Without that card, it would not be possible to purchase a ticket.
The situation is causing particular concern among passengers with scheduled commitments off the island. One of the reported cases involves a passenger who has a flight booked for the 29th but remains on Brava with no guarantee of being able to travel to Praia in time.
“I have a flight booked for the 29th, but right now I’m stuck here on Brava,” said the passenger, expressing the frustration of those who fear missing flights and other commitments due to the lack of a regular and reliable ferry service.
This case once again highlights the challenges faced by Brava residents in accessing inter-island transportation. For passengers, purchasing a ticket should guarantee transportation—not mark the beginning of yet another period of uncertainty about whether or not they’ll reach their destination.
